Statement from Tom Anderson, Lowe’s Fernandez Racing Co-
Owner/Managing Director, on the team’s disqualification in the
Twelve Hours of Sebring:
“A problem in post-race technical inspection has disqualified the
Lowe’s Fernandez Racing team from its second-place overall result
in today’s race. By the rules, each class of engine has an air
restrictor mandated by ALMS and only air that passes through this
restrictor may be utilized by the engine. The rules require that if a
plug were to be inserted into this restrictor, the engine would shut off
if running or not start at all.
“The Acura engine in the #15 Lowe’s ARX passed the “plug” test
performed by HPD [Honda Performance Development] prior to the
start of the race. However, when the test was performed by ALMS
officials after the race, the engine did not shut off thereby
disqualifying the car.
“It has been found that the carbon fiber air intake system which
holds the restrictor had broken sometime during the 12-hour rough
ride around the Sebring circuit resulting in a leak which allowed the
engine to continue to run when the plug was installed.
“Proper measures will be taken to ensure this problem will not occur
again, and we will be back stronger than ever at the next race in St.
Petersburg . The Lowe’s Fernandez Racing team showed its
strength today, and it was an exciting and productive race week
here at Sebring.”

Tom Kristensen is Mr LeMans but Johnny O'Connell has the fans
on their feet as Mr Sebring. The Corvette flags are waving through
every trip round the hairpin as he will take his seventh class victory if
all goes well. God speed Johnny, a class act and a legend!!!!!! This

Lots of no shows as Peugeot sets the stage in Friday practice for
the 12 Hours! photo/results
Risi tells LMSR.NET today that their ALMS 2008 Ferrari GT2 driving
chores will be handled by Patrick Friesacher and Harrison Brix.
Audi announced today at the Hall of Fame induction that they would
run two cars for full season ALMS. Driver pairings are Lucas Luhr
and Marco Werner for one R10 and Frank Biela and Emanuele
Pirro for the other.
Tongues are a wagging at SIR with the return of LMSR.NET as
MJ captures Friday autograph and final prep at Sebring!
